See your progress in Vocards
You'll know where to find how much you've studied, which words moved up or down a level, and how far each deck has come.
What you need
- A Vocards account with at least one deck.
- A connection for the Stats page on web. On iOS and Android, Stats can show a saved copy while you're offline.
1. Open Stats
On web, click the page menu at the top left of the header. It shows the name of the page you're on, for example Home. Choose Learning Heatmap. On a narrow window the menu shows only its icon.
On iOS and Android, tap the Stats tab.
2. Read the four numbers
- Current Streak and Longest streak count study days in a row. A day counts once you've answered 5 different cards that were due or new. Come back to Vocards after a break explains streaks and rest days.
- Total days studied counts only those streak days, across your whole history. A day with fewer than 5 cards isn't in it.
- Cards reviewed this year covers the last 365 days, not the calendar year. It adds up each day's count of cards, so a card you studied on ten different days counts ten times. It measures how much reviewing you did. It doesn't count different words.
3. Read the heatmap
Each square is one day, and each column is a week from Monday to Sunday. A square counts the different cards you answered that day, so answering the same card three times counts once. The darker the square, the more cards, compared with your own busiest day in the range.
A day runs from 4:00 AM to 4:00 AM, so a session at 1:00 AM belongs to the day before.
On web, point at a square to see its date and card count. On iOS and Android, tap it.
To see one month as a calendar, switch the card from Heatmap to Calendar, and page with Previous month and Next month.
Note: On iOS and Android, the grid scrolls sideways and opens on the latest weeks. Tap Full screen to see the whole year at once.
4. Filter by deck
Pick a deck under Deck to see only that deck's cards. All decks puts every deck back, paused decks included. The deck filter changes the heatmap, Cards reviewed this year and Level history. The streak tiles and Total days studied stay the same.
5. See which words moved up or down
Under the heatmap, Level history lists words that changed level, grouped by day, newest first. Each row shows the level a word came from and the level it reached. An up arrow is a climb, a down arrow a drop.
A word gets one row per day, for where it ended that day. A word that slipped and climbed back to the same level on the same day isn't listed.
The card shows the latest three. Click See all for the rest, and Load more to go further back.
Note: Level history only covers changes since the feature was added to Vocards. Earlier changes weren't recorded, so the list can be shorter than your heatmap.
6. Check what moved up today on Home
After you study, Home shows a Moved up today card when at least one word ended the day at a higher level than it started. Click it to see the words. Close it with Dismiss (the ✕) and it stays hidden until the next day starts.
Next to it, Learning Progress splits the cards in your active decks by level, from Unseen to Mastered. Paused decks aren't included. How it works explains each level.
7. Check a single deck
Open a deck. Its Learning Progress bar shows how many of its cards sit at each level. On web, point at a level in the bar to see which words are in it.
To list the cards at one level, use the level filter above the card list. On web it's the dropdown that starts on All. On iOS and Android, tap the filter icon next to the search box.
To compare decks, open My Decks (the Decks tab on iOS and Android) and sort by Progress. Decks with the largest share of Mastered cards come first.
On iOS and Android: trends and offline
The Stats tab has two charts web doesn't: Last 30 days, the cards you studied each day for the last 30 days, and Weekly rhythm, your average cards per weekday over the last 12 weeks. Both follow the deck filter.
Each time Stats loads online, the app saves a copy. Offline, you see that copy with a line that says when it was saved.
What you'll see
- Each session you finish adds to today's square and to Cards reviewed this year.
- Words that climb today show on Home under Moved up today and in Level history. Words that drop show only in Level history.
